SFSIC 2010 congress: SIC and Territorial Intelligence workshop

A workshop about the relationship between " information and communication science"(SIC) and territorial intelligence will be held at the 17th Annual Congress of the French society of information and communication sciences (SFSIC) which take place from 23 to 25 June 2010 in Dijon (France).
This workshop is led by Cyril Masselot. It's one of the Cimeos-Laseldi workshops to be held during the congress.

Presentation of the workshop on the SFIC website:

"Recent social events observed at the global level, financial and economic crises in the current social crisis, are pushing to imagine new ways of designing a territorial governance revisited. It seems inappropriate in the current environment to keep wanting to organize community along vertical lines (top to bottom, or bottom up) without a real co-construction of a shared vision of stakes such as social needs.

To involve regional stakeholders in territorial development is no longer enough; ownership of vision to the future is still fragmentary as an expression entered in extra-territorial dominance. The communities then need to organize themselves and to do this by designing and building the socio-technical devices of information and communication needed for new modes of governance.

It is legitimate to question the process informational and communicational products: what assumptions underlying or structure them? What dimensions, what roles, what are their objectives assigned: simple tool for project management, approach of partnership revitalization, socio-cognitive construction of social change?

What tangible issues result? What uses? What these experiences illustrate different approaches to the relationship between communication and territorial intelligence?

Many devices and objects can be queried here: observatories using territorial intelligence, more generally the disciplines of the sciences of man and society, European programs, local patterns of territorial cohesion devices development Planning (town policy for example), and often small organizations (associations, NGOs) seeking to establish mapping needs, knowledge, modes of intervention, and training ..."
